previous 7/10 next 9/10  Sevilla 2 - 2 Stephan (367528547)

Dark skies made the crowd of 28730 at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán a little nervous, but the rain held off. Mick Buursink was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luis Segovia and Domenico Reboa. Sevilla decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Olano - Bohlkamp, Kok Wan, Pearce - Pareja, de Maat, Outeiro de Rei, Pérez, Gabriel - Vázquez, Ziehaus.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Stephan. Lineup: Niño - Samson, Rabinad, Sokk - Bayón, Cebrià, Estadella, Chlebuš, Opá - Bock, Margineda.

0 - 1 was the score with 6 minutes played, after F. Cebrià cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Stephan. With 10 minutes played, Stephan put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was C. Opá. The players of Stephan now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Sevilla had a brilliant opportunity to reply as F. Kok Wan received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only E. Niño's reflexes saved him. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Sevilla, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.

Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Sevilla's A. Gabriel somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for T. Ziehaus, who struck for 1 - 2. Sevilla's A. Gabriel made a successful breakthrough on the left after 66 minutes and should have levelled the score, but instead he clipped it over the bar. 68 minutes in, and Sevilla were able to score the equalising goal to make it 2 - 2 when T. Ziehaus picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. Sevilla had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

Sevilla's top performer was clearly J. de Maat. F. Kok Wan on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Stephan player was A. Margineda. T. Sokk turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
