(367546857)

17-03-2012 15.15
Dark skies made the crowd of 15600 at
El Serrallo a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Jens Thum was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marc-Olivier Clement and
Conrad Van Minnebrugge.
Mèdol started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Vasques - Chriki, Valdeliso, Dhiab, Campanaro - Trullols, Bujanda, Panduro, Inchaustegui - Ucero, Oliver.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Cheverinos.
The following players took the field: Filoni - Schippers, Vilavendrell, Jovanović, Cabral - Bories, van Leest, Hamadej, Davies - Musiała, Strapcāns.
D. van Leest came close to putting the visiting team one up 26 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
I. Vasques managed to tip the ball to a corner.
Mèdol made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left
J. Oliver completely alone with keeper
M. Filoni, who made a spectacular block.
The referee showed Cheverinos's
D. van Leest the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
J. Ucero of Mèdol had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game.
À. Martí came in to finish the match.
The Mèdol captaincy was handed to
P. Panduro.
Cheverinos's
W. Musiała was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 37 minutes.
Cheverinos's
P. Strapcāns managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 38 minutes. 0 - 1.
The cannonball from 35 metres by
L. Bories of Cheverinos was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Cheverinos, with 52 percent of the ball.
The head of
M. Jovanović connected with a corner kick after 79 minutes, and the ball ended up with
A. Cabral of Cheverinos who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 0 - 2.
The players of Cheverinos now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
W. Musiała remonstrated furiously with the referee after Cheverinos had another decision go against them. The referee had no alternative but to show him another yellow card and send him from the pitch.
A misunderstanding between the visitors' keeper
M. Filoni and his left defence could have resulted in a goal for Mèdol, but
À. Martí's finish was way too lame.
Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.
Mèdol's top performer was clearly
F. Valdeliso.
However,
À. Martí made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Cheverinos player was without a doubt
P. Strapcāns.
M. Filoni was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 2.
