Clouds darkened the skies at
OpticaNuevaVision Arena as 2312 spectators turned up for the match.
Jorge Manríquez was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Richard Jacques and
Johan Harangus.
The derby had been the talk of
Comunitat Valenciana all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium.
OpticaNuevaVision started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
Starters: Bonjoch - Guantes, Ortega Alvarado, Ribera, Temple - Deiana, Gomensoro, Avia, Carlos - Martín Domínguez, Crespo.
A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for cuarzo.
The following players had been chosen: Bufí - Marina, Aierregarai, Vicastillo, Fakhir - Guzmán, Miravet, Fernández Madrigal, Ajenjo - Cáceres, Piqueras.
cuarzo's
R. Ajenjo could have put the guests one up after 2 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
J. Bonjoch was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose.
With 9 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of cuarzo resulted in a counterattack that set
C. Piqueras free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save.
With 36 minutes played,
M. Carlos of OpticaNuevaVision fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
M. Ribera. At last, OpticaNuevaVision's
D. Temple was able to backheel the ball in. 1 - 0.
39 minutes into the game, OpticaNuevaVision were awarded a penalty that
G. Ortega Alvarado turned into 2 - 0 without a problem.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
OpticaNuevaVision managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when
A. Deiana cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper.
The players of OpticaNuevaVision now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
69 minutes into the game, the referee ruled a penalty for cuarzo. Unfortunately,
J. Marina shot wide of the mark.
OpticaNuevaVision claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
Most important OpticaNuevaVision player was
M. Carlos.
On the other hand,
M. Ribera's play was disheartening.
L. Fernández Madrigal performed admirably for cuarzo.
M. Bufí was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
