Åtvid 0 - 7 Devils
(368365755)

12-05-2012 16.00
10470 spectators arrived at
Kopparvallen, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Barrett Curran was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Juho Saarnio and
Franz Josef Stengel.
Åtvid tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Bilal - Şükür, Taborga, Díez de Tejada, Brunt - Öneri, Kooistra, Villás, Storelid - Kubík, Martínez Mateo.
Devils started off with a 5-3-2 lineup.
Starters: Dumon - Nowack, Jespers, Grelier, Weingart, Pollastrini - Abreu, Mazur, Alemparte - Cattani, Cabrejas.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Devils.
Devils bypassed the midfield with their counterattack, leading to a free kick goal by
F. Mazur for 0 - 1.
The visitors'
H. Nowack took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 20 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Devils.
21 minutes into the game, Åtvid seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
solid level of organisation.
P. Cabrejas received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 26 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Devils fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
F. Mazur increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 4.
Given a free kick close to the byline, Devils tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let
P. Cabrejas slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 5, 37 minutes into the game.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Devils lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Devils's
E. Abreu was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 38 minutes.
The referee showed Devils's
L. Grelier the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
0 - 5 was the score after the first half.
Devils enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
The Åtvid players spent the break getting a rerun of the team's tactical organisation and regained a
solid organisation when the game started again.
The home crowd cheered when, after 76 minutes,
F. Mazur's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day.
After 79 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
F. Weingart who increased Devils's lead to 0 - 6.
With 83 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
A. Cattani of Devils to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 7.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
A. Cattani from Devils a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 85 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
86 minutes into the game, Åtvid seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
poor.
Devils claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.
Åtvid's top performer was clearly
A. Öneri.
S. Şükür turned in a dismal performance, however.
J. Dumon performed admirably for Devils.
J. Jespers was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 7.
