previous 1/10 next 3/10  McYids 0 - 2 Sparta! (368722478)

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 51561 to Ruel Fox Hole. Johan Mösch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Otokar Ernest and Timo Gutermann. McYids had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players took the field: Thinggaard - Hinojosa, Gillmeister, Barbosa Costa, Sender - Gesto, Stillavato, Okay, Henneman, MacLeod - Puliga.

Sparta! started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Merryweather - Bradavica, Villaelriego, Flokas - Domini, Lavalle, Martinčok, Lâm, Veldscholten - Rączkowski, Rubeka.

The wings were the focus of most of McYids's attacks today. Today, Sparta!'s strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. M. Flokas had a good opportunity to give Sparta! the lead as he charged down the right and struck the ball towards the top corner, but the home team's goalkeeper made the save. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 14 minutes into the match left Sparta!'s V. Lavalle completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. It was obvious that Sparta! had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. Sparta!'s V. Lavalle made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 18 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. McYids's O. Gillmeister made an attempt at equalising 26 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. McYids's F. Barbosa Costa got himself booked for a foul. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Sparta! had most of the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

54 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as M. Flokas finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. Attacking on the wings was the choice for Sparta!, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. The home crowd cheered when, after 65 minutes, Á. Lâm's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. Sparta! were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Sparta! coach let E. Castro replace F. Rubeka after 81 minutes. V. Lavalle wanted to play on, but the Sparta! coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 81 minutes into the game by W. Clarke. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Sparta!, with 54 percent of the ball.

Most important McYids player was F. Puliga. M. Thinggaard on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Sparta! player was without a doubt B. Bradavica. However, A. Domini made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 2.
