previous 10/10 next 2/10  Lerchenfeld 4 - 3 Marillion (368755990)

39521 fans braved the pouring rain at Rabenburg. Mats Carlsson was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Guillermo Ojeda and Lluís Rubí. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Lerchenfeld. The following players had been chosen: Hochhäuser - Raesfeld, Madlung, Carmo - Asklepios, Wallender, Bialek, Jupe, Böcher - Demmin, Corciulo.

Marillion had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Silbach - Tyni, Hötschl, Picchianti - Sherlock, Thelen, Loidl, Taskin, Hnátek - Otis, Okanaya.

5 minutes into the game, C. Otis had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. The head of T. Okanaya connected with a corner kick after 19 minutes, and the ball ended up with R. Loidl of Marillion who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 0 - 1. S. Asklepios, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. 33 minutes in, and Lerchenfeld were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when O. Demmin picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. After 34 minutes S. Asklepios made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to O. Demmin who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 2 - 1. After 35 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and A. Corciulo gave the Lerchenfeld supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. I. Sherlock's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert T. Okanaya was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Marillion. 3 - 2. With 42 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after P. Hötschl came through the middle, but his kick went wide. 3 - 2 was the score after the first half. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Lerchenfeld, with 57 percent of the ball.

U. Bialek was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on! O. Demmin had a fantastic opportunity to put Lerchenfeld up another goal 63 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The home team will be cursing F. Hnátek for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem. The match was level at 3 - 3 after 65 minutes. Lerchenfeld took the lead 78 minutes into the game by 4 - 3, as B. Carmo elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Lerchenfeld had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.

U. Bialek performed admirably for Lerchenfeld. S. Madlung was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Marillion player was without a doubt C. Otis. However, A. Tyni made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 3.
