Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 25545 to Festung Oberwerth. Håkan Säflius was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Dick Munn-Giddings and Tormod Rushfeldt. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Rheinland-Pfalz derby and the crowd was divided evenly. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Kowelenz. The following players took the field: Grönqvist - Simionescu, Bucur, Alling - Margiotta, Vanden Abeele, Baron, Aguete, Fleischmann - Fiorini, Sambugaro.

Haschbach mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle. Haschbach's V. Costache could have put the guests one up after 12 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but J. Grönqvist was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. Kowelenz showed their counterattack skill 13 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with K. Alling scoring uncontested for 1 - 0. Haschbach players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The visitors kept the pressure on to tie the game when, after 20 minutes, Ç. Tılsım broke through the centre and found himself alone with the keeper. J. Grönqvist made a great block, though. After 21 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and K. Alling gave the Kowelenz supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0. A great save by keeper M. Linkvist after 25 minutes kept the visitors in the game after A. Fiorini struck from the left with a real cannonball. Kowelenz managed to extend their lead to 3 - 0 when F. Aguete cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. With 31 minutes played, Kowelenz put themselves up 4 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to D. Vanden Abeele, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. After 35 minutes Haschbach's Ç. Tılsım had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. T. Arbanas came in to replace him. Halftime score was 4 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Kowelenz, who controlled the ball 59 percent of the time.

After 48 minutes a very unfortunate collision in the penalty area led to Kowelenz's A. Fiorini being carried off the pitch and replaced by K. Seprenyi. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 59 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving T. Arbanas completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Kowelenz scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for I. Simionescu after 65 minutes. By now, the players in Kowelenz felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. 67 minutes into the game, Kowelenz were awarded a penalty that K. Alling turned into 6 - 0 without a problem. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for K. Alling. Kowelenz made it 7 - 0 as B. Bucur got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to C. Sambugaro who whipped a low drive in off the far post. F. Aguete had a fantastic opportunity to put Kowelenz up another goal 74 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. Kowelenz enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

F. Aguete performed admirably for Kowelenz. I. Simionescu on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Haschbach player was without a doubt Ł. Biedrzycki. M. Linkvist turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 7 - 0.
