Clouds darkened the skies at
Rudolf-Harbig-Stadion as 13636 spectators turned up for the match.
Tero Martinoja was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Fredrik 'Basketcase' Halvorsen and
Gabriel Carmona.
Marbach tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Paepcke - Enquiries, Bautista, Fisher - Soykut, Zanina, Buche, Sulkula - Wallhalb, Alps, Neuenfeld.
Warriors decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Lyavdanskiy - Pierri, Drescher, Benitsch - Schwab, Şomfălean, Hemer, Meschke, Mattinen - Weidner, Fresu.
Warriors's
J. Drescher got himself booked for a foul.
Marbach broke through on the left 30 minutes into the game, with
A. Neuenfeld firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
With 33 minutes gone, Warriors had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
H. Hemer did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Marbach's
A. Neuenfeld increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
S. Fisher squirmed through their central defence after 35 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0.
The players of Marbach now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
3 - 0 was the score after the first half.
Marbach claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
After 58 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
V. Soykut gave the Marbach supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 4 - 0.
59 minutes into the match Marbach's
L. Bautista viciously shoved another player from behind while going for a loose ball and was sent off the pitch with a red card.
The visitors got one back when
S. Weidner finished off a pass from the left and scored after 69 minutes. 4 - 1 was the score.
Warriors's
W. Benitsch was shown a yellow card after 81 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Marbach, as
J. Buche left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
U. Rohatschek took his place on the field.
Warriors's
V. Lyavdanskiy had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 83 minutes having been played.
A. Fjeld was the replacement.
Warriors enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
Marbach's top performer was clearly
A. Neuenfeld.
On the other hand,
U. Rohatschek's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Warriors player was without a doubt
H. Hemer.
However,
W. Benitsch made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 4 - 1.
