previous 7/10 next 9/10  Reeperbahner 4 - 0 Olympique (369250016)

Due to an all-day shower, 24840 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Hau Drauf Park. Mischa Quelet was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jindřich Čížek and Christian Gatzemeier. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Reeperbahner. The following players took the field: Engflod - Pugliese, Bastianoni - Likov, Etlin, Silva de Marco, Hansen, Moletto - Saavedra, Dubief, Porretti.

Olympique decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Perruchoud - Çevren, Emsperger, Ammann - Kokka, Mandel, Ruffell, Costa, Negro - Ulstrup, Deuring.

U. Hansen slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. With 10 minutes played O. Dubief almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. At 18 minutes played, J. Etlin came in from the right with the intention of giving Reeperbahner the lead, but his rocket of a shot rattled the crossbar. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 19 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from P. Saavedra, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. 20 minutes into the match, the speedy P. Saavedra easily outpaced D. Emsperger, chipped the keeper and made the score 2 - 0. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Reeperbahner coach let A. Mazin replace A. Porretti after 20 minutes. O. Dubief should probably have put his team up another goal after 34 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by U. Perruchoud kept the visitors in the game. 2 - 0 was the score after the first half. Reeperbahner had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.

The home side's L. Bastianoni curled a free kick home after 61 minutes, putting Reeperbahner ahead 3 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Reeperbahner lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 74 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving R. Mandel completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side's keeper. Reeperbahner managed to extend their lead to 4 - 0 when J. Etlin cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Possession in this half belonged to Reeperbahner, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.

O. Dubief performed admirably for Reeperbahner. C. Pugliese was a disappointment, however. Most important Olympique player was M. Ulstrup. G. Negro on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.
