05-05-2012 21.00
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 21354 to
Topos Urb team Arena.
Jacques Moisy was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Robert Suda and
Tomislav Unger.
All of
Alsace was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby.
Topos had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
Starters: Combes - Boutet, Jung - Kirbitas, Choisnet, Pizzimenti, Amsils, Buchenkamp - Inberg, Elg, Germanò.
monaco!! tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
They fielded: Plūme - Hingsamer, Laszuk, Külz - Rydel, Sałęga, Cassin, Pupazzi, Acatay - Honthorst, Ducamp.
Right from the start it was obvious that monaco!! were expecting an easy victory.
For their match strategy, Topos had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
With 12 minutes gone, monaco!! had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
C. Ducamp did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out.
Topos's
J. Inberg was shown a yellow card after 13 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
A lovely run by Topos's
M. Kirbitas left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 23 minutes into the match, and
F. Honthorst wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
0 - 1 was the halftime score.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by monaco!!, with 61 percent of the ball.
As the match resumes, monaco!! seemed to be a little less carefree than during the first half. They realised this would be necessary if they wanted to defend their fragile lead.
54 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as
M. Rydel finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
By now, the players in monaco!! felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
After 72 minutes, monaco!!'s
C. Acatay burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3.
With 82 minutes played,
B. Elg of Topos fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
C. Ducamp received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 85 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The monaco!! fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
The visiting supporters hurled a torrent of abuse at the referee when a questionable free kick after 86 minutes led to a goal for
J. Inberg, who scored to make it 1 - 4.
monaco!! increased their lead after 87 minutes when
A. Cassin broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 5, much to the home crowd's dismay.
monaco!! had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.
J. Choisnet performed admirably for Topos.
J. Jung turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating monaco!! player was without a doubt
C. Ducamp.
T. Hingsamer on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 1 - 5.
