previous 9/10 next 1/10  Cologne 4 - 2 United (371586183)

Dark skies made the crowd of 54103 at Tiano Fritz a little nervous, but the rain held off. Edoardo Teodoro Pollo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Børge Just and David Grillot. The derby had been the talk of Selangor all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. A 3-4-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Cologne. They fielded: Kézay - Amici, 成继 (Chengji), Zhao - Raj, Jehl, Nisi, Györgyi - Jie Guang, Fritz, Fritz.

United started off with a 5-3-2 lineup. Lineup: Barcula - bin Abdullah, Siergiejuk, Ze Kwang, Louis, bin Ahmad Mokshinon - 鼎艦 (Dingjian), bin Mahmood, Fontanive - bin Saiban, Janson.

Cologne were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for United. It was obvious that Cologne had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The counterattacks of United were deadly and 11 minutes into the game, A. bin Abdullah received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 0 - 1. With the crowd on their feet chanting wildly, some great moves down the right hand side after 28 minutes gave Cologne a wonderful opportunity to level the score, and T. Fritz stepped up to the challenge. 1 - 1 Cologne got a penalty shot 39 minutes into the game, but J. Fritz scuffed the shot slightly and F. Barcula was able to block. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Cologne claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 73 percent.

Cologne could have put themselves ahead after 57 minutes but R. Jehl missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right. United were great at switching from defence to attack, and after 58 minutes, A. bin Abdullah swept through the middle on a counterattack, making the score 1 - 2. 75 minutes into the match, Cologne's S. Jie Guang maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 2 - 2. After some beautiful movement down the left wing, T. Fritz scored for Cologne putting them ahead 3 - 2, after 77 minutes. Cologne managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when J. Fritz cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Cologne had most of the ball, with 74 percent of possession.

Most important Cologne player was D. Nisi. On the other hand, S. Raj's play was disheartening. The most dominating United player was without a doubt F. Barcula. However, 周. 鼎艦 (Dingjian) made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 2.
