Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 7000 at
Melaka Park today.
Sérgio Alfama was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Rudolf Rytz and
Kalil Haddad.
Melaka started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: bin Tahar - Che-Wei, bin Mustaffa, bin Musa, Nhat - bin Johar, Seng-Hee, Alias, Dhameja - Kong-Phay, bin Ismail.
Exiles93 decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
Starters: Putra - Ze Yao, Wen Feng, Osterman, Feng Han - Wadihan Hanafi, Mohd Syamsuddin, Mohd Irzani, Iskandar - Syadi, Abd Rahim Jamaluddin.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
L. Feng Han from Exiles93 a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 2 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
The crowd gasped as
A. bin Johar of Melaka was flattened by an opponent after 3 minutes and had to be carried off.
K. Chun-Hui came in off the bench.
Melaka's
A. Dhameja was shown a yellow card after 4 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
The guests took the lead 8 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
Z. Wadihan Hanafi scoring to make it 0 - 1.
An amazing free kick flew past the home keeper 9 minutes into the match, putting Exiles93 ahead 0 - 2.
P. Ze Yao was the scorer.
After this, you could see that the players of Exiles93 were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
F. Iskandar of Exiles93 took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 25 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3.
0 - 3 was the halftime score.
Melaka enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.
After 52 minutes, Exiles93's
F. Iskandar swiftly ran past
T. Che-Wei and nutmegged the keeper! 0 - 4.
M. Mohd Irzani knocked one home from a counterattack down the right wing, making the score 0 - 5 after 54 minutes.
K. Chun-Hui's speed was almost enough to give Melaka a goal after 62 minutes, but his nice pass to
P. Kong-Phay was not taken care of properly.
With 65 minutes played,
M. Abd Rahim Jamaluddin nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar.
Exiles93's
T. Wen Feng got himself booked for a foul.
Melaka were forced into a substitution as
M. bin Musa couldn't continue due to some rough treatment, forcing
M. Abu Salim to come in off the bench.
T. Wen Feng was in the clear after breaking the offside trap following a Exiles93 counterattack from the left after 78 minutes. His neat finish made the score 0 - 6.
81 minutes into the game,
M. bin Tahar had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
W. Sze-Min.
Possession in this half belonged to Melaka, who controlled the ball 53 percent of the time.
S. Seng-Hee performed admirably for Melaka.
A. Dhameja turned in a dismal performance, however.
Exiles93's best player was
M. Abd Rahim Jamaluddin.
T. Wen Feng was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 0 - 6.
