Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 56004 to
S.O.J.A. Arena.
Adam Robu was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Pierre Cadeau and
David Parreño.
People from all over
Warszawa had joined up for the derby.
S.O.J.A. started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Kupidura - Szendzielorz, Wasiuta, Gadziński - Bolger, Ruśniok, Sus, Gos, Bonea - Kubiesa, Hamera.
Kilimanjaro decided to use a 3-4-3 set up.
Lineup: Tuleja - Bętkowski, Nalazek, Babiński - Sobócki, Jachymczyk, Kosmała, Batkiewicz - Almela, Leclerc, das Neves.
The wings were the focus of most of S.O.J.A.'s attacks today.
Given a free kick in a difficult position after 16 minutes, Kilimanjaro tried a variation that they had practised in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defence were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 24 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
J. Ruśniok, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
Kilimanjaro had to make a substitution after 32 minutes.
B. Sobócki limped off the field and was replaced by
C. Nagórny.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
J. Ruśniok squirmed through their central defence after 37 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
38 minutes in, S.O.J.A.'s
A. Gos received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.
53 minutes in,
P. Batkiewicz made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but
R. Kupidura refused to let the ball slip by him.
After 55 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
M. Sus might have resulted in another goal for S.O.J.A.. However,
M. Tuleja made a spectacular save.
The home crowd was silenced as
Z. Nalazek took a successful penalty shot 76 minutes into the game, reducing the home lead to 2 - 1.
A cross coming in on the right hand side left
C. Nagórny alone in front of the goal after 85 minutes but his shot was woeful.
Kilimanjaro claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
S.O.J.A.'s best player was
A. Gos.
However,
F. Bonea made a disastrous appearance.
P. Batkiewicz performed admirably for Kilimanjaro.
On the other hand,
C. Nagórny's play was disheartening.
