previous 4/10 next 6/10  Canarinhos 3 - 1 Stilon (372035676)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 7590 at San Siro today. Themis Thomaidis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ivan Šušňovský and Fadri Cagienard. Canarinhos had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players took the field: Malkowski - Metryka, Gardian, Gnot, Świdrak - Kulec, Carregal, Amboage, Tkaczyński - Rigoli, Tanini.

Stilon tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Judeiķis - Kramkowski, Traczyk, Zadrożna - Wiśnicki, Rosa, Skupiński, Rybiałek, Krężołek - Drapała, Jankowicz.

Canarinhos used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Stilon. O. Kulec's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert O. Tanini was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Canarinhos. 1 - 0. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. D. Tkaczyński squirmed through their central defence after 26 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Canarinhos lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. 38 minutes in, D. Kramkowski made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but M. Malkowski refused to let the ball slip by him. S. Rosa of Stilon was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. The visitors got one back when B. Krężołek finished off a pass from the left and scored after 44 minutes. 2 - 1 was the score. 2 - 1 was the score after the first half. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Canarinhos's E. Carregal increasing the lead to 3 - 1. Stilon's D. Kramkowski left the field after 72 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was K. Krawczyk. With 78 minutes played, B. Krężołek had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot flew harmlessly into the side-netting of the goal. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, W. Rybiałek got himself booked. The manager of Stilon was not happy. M. Świdrak should probably have put his team up another goal after 84 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by A. Judeiķis kept the visitors in the game. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

Canarinhos's best player was O. Tanini. M. Malkowski turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Stilon player was B. Jankowicz. However, A. Judeiķis made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 3 - 1.
