previous 6/10 next 8/10  Breitenau 3 - 0 Langoliers (372333517)

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Löwengrube saw a crowd turnout of 50763. Andrea Giovanbattista was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Branislav Schulz and Özcan Deringil. All of Niederösterreich was shut down for the day, as fans of both clubs came to the derby. Breitenau tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Carrasquilla - Castilla, Mandrini, Góralewski - Rašković, Beagrie, Peaty, Salvenmoser, Cortejana - Danhof, Smith.

Langoliers started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Starters: Jonsson - Cea Bueno, Sáiz, Liebhart - Biniek, Schmidt, Hampel, Loss - Proprentner, Dunbar, Orno.

A. Mandrini caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 24 minutes. This gave Breitenau the 1 - 0 lead. C. Danhof had a fantastic opportunity to put Breitenau up another goal 34 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. As M. Dunbar had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Langoliers player a red card without batting an eyelid. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Breitenau claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.

After 53 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by H. Smith might have resulted in another goal for Breitenau. However, J. Jonsson made a spectacular save. Coming from the right, A. Mandrini almost managed to score another goal for Breitenau, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. The crowd gasped as A. Carrasquilla of Breitenau was flattened by an opponent after 72 minutes and had to be carried off. H. Dragiev came in off the bench. Breitenau managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when C. Danhof cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. 79 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as N. Rašković broke through, making the score 3 - 0 for Breitenau. The coach of Breitenau was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 80 minutes, R. Saleiro came on for W. Castilla. Breitenau had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Breitenau's best player was C. Danhof. However, H. Dragiev made a disastrous appearance. Most important Langoliers player was G. Orno. O. Cea Bueno was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
