Tuna 4 - 0 Göteve

Clouds darkened the skies at Tuna Stadium as 38911 spectators turned up for the match. Guerric Pique was the appointed referee. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Tuna formed up in a 3-5-2 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. The following players took the field: Lindhström - Damjanović, Fjelfeldt, Dan - Euverman, Runesson, Pettersson, Kullenér, Schmidhauser - Sokołowski, Nygård.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Göteve decided to go with a 5-4-1 formation. They fielded: Öhrdahl - Sandflod, Thörnling, Örnhall, Bonvallet, Strandtorp - Holmbom, Roddahl, Leijonkvist, Bergman - Sjölin.

M. Damjanović's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 4 following a run up the middle gave Tuna the 1 - 0 lead. With 29 minutes played, Göteve's J. Örnhall received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. A corner kick created massive confusion in the penalty area, with a near-goal by N. Dan. At last, Tuna's M. Damjanović was able to will the ball into the net. 2 - 0. By now, the players of Tuna felt that victory was a sure thing and began to play it safe, focusing on defense and not risking too much going forward. Given a free kick from an impossible angle, Tuna went for a play that loyal fans may recognize from training. A square ball surprised the defense and let J. Sokołowski slip through at goal. He hit it first time, making the score 3 - 0, 41 minutes into the game. 43 minutes into the game, Tuna's P. Nygård tried to nail the coffin shut, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Tuna set the tempo, maintaining 73 percent of possession.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Tuna coach let H. Höhnel come on for J. Sokołowski after 46 minutes. M. Schmidhauser was not content with his team's lead, and tried to extend it 49 minutes into the game after a nice run through the middle, but his shot went wide. W. Bergman nearly reduced the lead 57 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by J. Lindhström put an end to the play coming in from the right flank. After a play down the right 58 minutes into the match, Tuna's J. Runesson unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. H. Höhnel could have put Tuna up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 68 minutes. With 70 minutes played, Tuna's M. Damjanović pulled up limping after a savage, cowardly challenge. But he's not yet ready to shuffle off this mortal coil. He's staying in to play on. The valiant never taste of death but once! Tuna added another goal to their lead as M. Schmidhauser struck home for 4 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. The statistics geek breathlessly ran into the press box to show Tuna in control of the ball, with 75 percent possession. Thanks, Poindexter.

The local beauty queen presented Tuna's P. Nygård with a prize turducken for being named Man of the Match. Good thing P. Fjelfeldt isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The most outstanding Göteve player was without a doubt T. Sjölin. I can't remember W. Bergman ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 4 - 0.
