previous 3/4 next 1/4  SGS 9 - 0 hitafa-bi (373352804)

It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 58817 that came out to Sultan Gazi Arena. Peer Henriksen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jonas Pålsson and Danni Andie Jensen. The derby had been the talk of İstanbul all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. SGS started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. The following players took the field: Fifield - Vykydal, Kurtar - Koirikivi, Ionas, Güneş, Doms, Mitrovic - Rio, Cangüzar, Deutor.

hitafa-bi decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. They fielded: 劍遥 (Jianyao) - Sikkinen, Igerøy, Ernesto - Winnelinckx, Dorrego, Buzzalino, Karlakari, Inkilä - van Rietschoten, Rodrigues.

hitafa-bi saw most attack opportunities on the wings. T. Güneş gave SGS the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 hitafa-bi were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. hitafa-bi were close to putting the equaliser away after 6 minutes as the opposing defence lost control of the ball to A. Rodrigues in a scuffle towards the left of the goal, but in the end the ball was cleared over the dead ball line. The SGS free kick 9 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of M. Kurtar, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 2 - 0! With 14 minutes played, SGS's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to T. Koirikivi he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 3 - 0. By now, the players in SGS felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. SGS solidified their lead at the 28 minute mark, as M. Kurtar dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0. Things were deteriorating for the away team as SGS scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for T. Güneş after 30 minutes. Halftime score was 5 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by SGS, with 59 percent of the ball.

52 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as D. Deutor broke through, making the score 6 - 0 for SGS. hitafa-bi's M. Dorrego had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 65 minutes having been played. J. Johannessen was the replacement. Given a free kick close to the byline, SGS tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let J. Doms slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 7 - 0, 77 minutes into the game. I. Inkilä didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. hitafa-bi's right side looked dangerous after 82 minutes, as A. Winnelinckx broke through. N. Fifield continued to stifle them, however, as he made the save look easy. D. Rio's curling free kick almost found the goal for SGS, but the visitors' keeper somehow managed to get ahold of it. SGS managed to extend their lead to 8 - 0 when K. Cangüzar cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. SGS's D. Rio struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 9 - 0 after 88 minutes. The SGS players could smell victory in the air. N. Fifield wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for R. Joseph after 89 minutes. O. Vykydal wanted to play on, but the SGS coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 89 minutes into the game by H. Maidana. SGS had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.

The most dominating SGS player was without a doubt D. Rio. However, R. Joseph made a disastrous appearance. hitafa-bi's top performer was clearly J. van Rietschoten. On the other hand, J. Johannessen's play was disheartening. The match ends 9 - 0.
