Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 43645 at
Arena Kuwait Legends today.
Hermod Søyland was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jelmer Weening and
Ronny Naftziger.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Hawalli derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
Legends decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
The following players had been chosen: Roques - Cornoldi, Heyde, Frieling - Schaabner, Dawidowski, Marcelli, Lipták-Fegó, Galanek - Leppäkangas, Rammerstorfer.
hawalli tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Kutnik - Qurashi, Farsi, Haj-Malik - Mundakar, Afrouzian, Ibn-Bilal, Yousef, Bin-Yaseen - Ibn-Akram, Abu-Ibrahim.
Legends saw most attack opportunities on the wings.
Legends took the lead 2 minutes in, as
L. Dawidowski broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Legends's
G. Cornoldi increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
Players in Legends heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Legends to 3 - 0 as
M. Leppäkangas finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
K. Galanek unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide.
hawalli's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
A. Afrouzian to score easily from the right flank for 3 - 1.
It was 3 - 1 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Legends, with 62 percent of the ball.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
L. Dawidowski squirmed through their central defence after 68 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
M. Leppäkangas. At last, Legends's
L. Dawidowski was able to backheel the ball in. 5 - 1.
That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for
L. Dawidowski.
Legends solidified their lead at the 85 minute mark, as
M. Marcelli dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 6 - 1.
After this, you could see that the players of Legends were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
After 87 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
K. Lipták-Fegó gave the Legends supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 7 - 1.
With 87 minutes played,
D. Rammerstorfer of Legends fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Legends's opponents know to be wary of
K. Galanek's speed, but it made little difference as he flew past the defence 87 minutes into the game. Only the keeper could stop him - and he did with a perfectly timed dive!
Possession in this half belonged to Legends, who controlled the ball 63 percent of the time.
Legends's best player was
M. Marcelli.
However,
M. Leppäkangas made a disastrous appearance.
Most important hawalli player was
Q. Bin-Yaseen.
M. Ibn-Bilal on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 7 - 1.
