Dark skies made the crowd of 63190 at Eternal Rain a little nervous, but the rain held off. Jordi Serra was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Uwe Mehrlich and Sanel Ulisse. LFC started off with a 2-5-3 lineup. They fielded: Ugrai - Nielsen, Dyc - Sossai, Heding, Clemmensen, Røll, Burger - Schaefer, Gudar, Frandsen.

A 5-4-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Lentini. Starters: Herrera - Aker, Audi, Oreiro, Pesavento, Zarev - Rake, Berthelsen, Patel, Vieira - Senhorinha.

Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Lentini. LFC took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 5 minutes into the match. W. Dyc scored from the penalty spot. K. Clemmensen could have increased the lead after 18 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. P. Burger squirmed through their central defence after 21 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. T. Schaefer sailed high above the opponents as he headed in a corner kick from W. Dyc after 22 minutes of play, making the score 3 - 0. Lentini needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 25 minutes S. Pesavento made way for J. Buráň. LFC's R. Sossai got himself booked for a foul. J. Buráň was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Lentini's defence 29 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 3 - 1. M. Nielsen should probably have put his team up another goal after 31 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by E. Herrera kept the visitors in the game. The Lentini players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. It was 3 - 1 at the break. LFC claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 56 percent.

The LFC players could smell victory in the air. R. Røll wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for R. Faber after 46 minutes. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in LFC's A. Gudar increasing the lead to 4 - 1. By now, the players in LFC felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Lentini kept trying to force their way through on the right side and F. Oreiro got his chance after 58 minutes, but the home side's defence held their position and stopped the attack. LFC's D. Frandsen saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 60 minutes. As the game started to slip away for Lentini, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. Lentini showed their counterattack skill 64 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with R. Senhorinha scoring uncontested for 4 - 2. J. Buráň of Lentini displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered M. Nielsen and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 4 - 3. M. Nielsen wanted to play on, but the LFC coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by M. Siewior. 76 minutes into the match, W. Dyc could have extended the lead, but his powerful free kick went just over the bar. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by LFC, with 60 percent of the ball.

The most dominating LFC player was without a doubt D. Frandsen. However, R. Sossai made a disastrous appearance. Most important Lentini player was R. Senhorinha. On the other hand, A. Vieira's play was disheartening. The match ends 4 - 3.
