The wings were the focus of most of FCB's attacks today. FCB's J. Paz could have put the guests one up after 4 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but B. Niţu was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. J. Paz of FCB was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. FCB had to make a substitution after 19 minutes. J. Paz limped off the field and was replaced by J. Tissari. Weber had to manage with a reduced squad after 23 minutes, as S. Bentili got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. It might be a while before the fans see FCB's E. Kure again, after he had to leave the field in great distress at the 24 minute mark. He was replaced by B. Guimarães. The FCB captaincy was handed to S. Larsen. After 26 minutes J. Baarssen made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to S. Inurrieta who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 0. Weber's B. Rüf was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 29 minutes. Weber's A. Bruheim left the field after 30 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was S. Tungstål. L. Ramquist finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 37 minutes into the match. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. FCB claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.

With 49 minutes gone, Weber had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, B. Chastain did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. Down the middle came C. Huysentruyt, making a fantastic play that nearly had FCB take the lead after 68 minutes, but B. Niţu preserved the tie. It was obvious that FCB had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. 75 minutes into the game, D. Burmeta had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. Weber's C. Perticone refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 76 minutes. 85 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Weber to take the lead after a good cross from the right found E. Mann alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. The visitors' central defence should have had no trouble clearing the pass to V. Flégl, but the Weber player managed to shrug them off and fired a low shot past the keeper to give his team the lead. 2 - 1! Weber had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

Weber's top performer was clearly S. Inurrieta. On the other hand, S. Tungstål's play was disheartening. Most important FCB player was F. Neves. B. Guimarães turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 1.
