Ackers 1 - 3 Carnforth
(374459483)

06-05-2012 18.00
Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 29470 to
Estadio de Ackers.
Zico Hochstettler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ali Yuvacı and
Francesco Mariancini.
Ackers started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Lee - Winken, Sexton, Wensicke - Beaud, Darcy, Wishart, Knight, Haigh - Seibezeder, Myhre.
Carnforth tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players took the field: Pytka - Grelha, Corpo, Montesinos - Tinoco, Bertušis, Salvador, Schuitema, Ruotsalainen - Garrido Leite, Haničák.
Carnforth used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
Ackers's
C. Haigh got himself booked for a foul.
0 - 1 was the score with 26 minutes played, after
A. Tinoco cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Carnforth.
Carnforth came close to extending their lead as
S. Bertušis delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 30 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
The crowd chanted their encouragement as Ackers's
T. Knight came in from the right after 31 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 1 - 1.
Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 33 minutes into the match, and
A. Schuitema wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 - 2 for the visitors.
Halftime score was 1 - 2.
Carnforth had most of the ball, with 54 percent of possession.
A drive down the left side allowed
E. Haničák to get in close and score another goal for Carnforth after 52 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 3.
Carnforth were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
S. Bertušis could have added one to the visitors' lead if his free kick had gone just a little lower.
S. Bertušis was, after 58 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
T. Lee made the save.
A penalty was missed by Carnforth's
S. Bertušis 68 minutes into the match. Probably overconfident, he blasted a hard shot miles outside of the left post.
Carnforth claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 52 percent.
The most dominating Ackers player was without a doubt
J. Darcy.
C. Haigh was a disappointment, however.
Carnforth's best player was
E. Haničák.
However,
A. Montesinos made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 1 - 3.
