(374638922)

18-03-2012 20.00
Clouds darkened the skies at
Door Oefening Sterk Arena as 31938 spectators turned up for the match.
Albin Sohier was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Giacomo Colaci and
Jérôme Henry.
Oefening started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Lezcano - Boniface, Göttingen, Pérard - Züfle, Evdokimov, Teerlink, Cami, Bakiera - Atar, Lucero.
Fessie had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Szmyt - Invernizzi, Macías Blanco, Feldthaus - Van den Abeele, Wensink, van Huut, Esman, Månsson - Kaanis, Zijlstra.
The visiting
J. Zijlstra was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 4 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score.
Always quick on his feet, Fessie's
K. Van den Abeele sped down the field after 6 minutes, but his pass to
J. Zijlstra was just a bit too far ahead for him to get a good shot off.
13 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as
S. Feldthaus finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick.
The Fessie coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 14 minutes into the game.
C. Kaanis wanted to play on, but the Fessie coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 14 minutes into the game by
J. van Daatselaar.
R. Boniface challenged the visitors' central defence eagerly, producing a good chance 17 minutes into the game as he went for a through ball. But, as so many times before, the guests' defensive efforts got the best of it.
After 23 minutes,
Z. Bakiera had a good opportunity to reduce the scoreline for Oefening with a chance created through the middle, but wasn't cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar.
26 minutes in, Oefening's
O. Göttingen received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
J. Wensink's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Fessie, he bravely continued in the match.
The referee showed Fessie's
S. van Huut the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 2.
Oefening had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.
After 64 minutes, Oefening sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached
I. Züfle, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 1 - 2.
After 72 minutes of play,
L. Teerlink evened things up for Oefening with an impressive goal coming up the middle. 2 - 2.
Priding himself in being an active coach, the Fessie manager gave new instructions to his players after 72 minutes.
Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.
Oefening's best player was
S. Atar.
However,
O. Göttingen made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Fessie player was without a doubt
J. Zijlstra.
S. Szmyt was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 2.
