05-03-2012 00.00
The 37567 spectators at
Mocão were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Luigi Vaccari was the appointed referee.
F.F.C started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Lūkins - Mejías Valle, Iruñela, Sereno - Mäkirinne, Salerno, Gianini, Miler, Lyalichev - Lupi, Seunigg.
Futebol had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
Lineup: Formentini - Oetliker, Albach, de Buijzer - Baião, Stinghen, Nacher, Cantagalo, Arrieiro - Rozental, Huicab.
F.F.C seemed to prefer attacking in the middle.
It was obvious that Futebol were using their pressing skill as their primary tactic.
R. Iruñela caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 6 minutes. This gave F.F.C the 1 - 0 lead.
A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in F.F.C's
B. Seunigg increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
The players of F.F.C now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
Futebol's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends.
F.F.C increased the lead as
F. Lyalichev struck to make the score 3 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
E. Arrieiro from Futebol a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 40 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Halftime score was 3 - 0.
F.F.C had most of the ball, with 77 percent of possession.
B. Seunigg had a fantastic opportunity to put F.F.C up another goal 63 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
F.F.C had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
J. Gianini should probably have put his team up another goal after 77 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
W. Formentini kept the visitors in the game.
After 80 minutes F.F.C's
N. Lupi contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
Futebol's
J. Baião was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 84 minutes.
Possession in this half belonged to F.F.C, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.
V. Salerno performed admirably for F.F.C.
On the other hand,
F. Lyalichev's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Futebol player was without a doubt
V. Rozental.
G. Nacher turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
