(376823048)

29-02-2012 10.30
Dark skies made the crowd of 32689 at
teatro romanum zurigo a little nervous, but the rain held off.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for S.P.Q.R..
Starters: Voci - Nicolás, Gruber, Bojčev - Sundstrøm, Vigolo, Nogueras, Pătraş, Riera - Brizuela, Sgrilli.
Rünenberg started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Meneske - Utiger, Amrein, Casano - Bilon, Ginesu, Pfyl, Aoustin, Freymond - Wehrda, Burch.
Many thought
I. Brizuela ought to have been awarded a penalty 8 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
A. Meneske after a determined run through the middle.
After the game, the most discussed event will probably be the penalty given after 10 minutes that gave the visitors the 0 - 1 lead. Despite the controversy,
D. Bilon struck home the penalty, as cool as anything.
It was 0 - 1 at the break.
Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.
The Rünenberg players could smell victory in the air.
D. Pfyl wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
N. Zenger after 59 minutes.
S.P.Q.R.'s
F. Vigolo put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 63 minutes, but the ball went wide.
After 76 minutes of play,
I. Brizuela equalised for S.P.Q.R. after an elegant attack from the right.
E. Freymond came close to putting the visiting team one up 78 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
B. Voci managed to tip the ball to a corner.
S.P.Q.R. were able to mount several counterattacks, such as the impressive one after 79 minutes, but
D. Nogueras lofted a free kick over the crossbar.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Rünenberg, with 51 percent of the ball.
With the scores being level after 90 minutes, the match went into extra time.
Some great play up the middle by S.P.Q.R. led to a chance for
I. Pătraş to score after 93 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar.
99 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but
B. Aoustin, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide.
S.P.Q.R. took the lead after 100 minutes as a result of
F. Vigolo's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1.
What a dramatic win for S.P.Q.R.!
Most important S.P.Q.R. player was
F. Vigolo.
On the other hand,
I. Pătraş's play was disheartening.
The most dominating Rünenberg player was without a doubt
M. Wehrda.
S. Casano was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 2 - 1.
