27461 spectators arrived at Shadow Moses, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Dean Tobin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Luís Évora and Valter Minarčík. Perpetua had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players took the field: Taweewattana - Thomassin, Caldera, De Keersmaeker, Nátor - Aghemo, Santaya, Fetto, Scheepstra, Ramovi - Deflandre.

Juniors started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Krinizky - Mendenau, Restainer, Nickel - Rosee, Dietel, Crivelli, Düsi, Brubach - Pfäffli, De la Cuesta.

The referee showed Perpetua's C. Caldera the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. 10 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Perpetua to take the lead after a good cross from the right found H. Deflandre alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Perpetua took the lead, 1 - 0, after a penalty 24 minutes into the match. A. Nátor scored from the penalty spot. 25 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as G. Brubach struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. Perpetua's H. Deflandre was shown a yellow card after 29 minutes for slicing down an opponent. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Perpetua had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave M. Santaya from Perpetua a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 61 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! M. Nickel of Juniors received a yellow card after 67 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. When M. Santaya made yet another studs-first tackle after 79 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the Perpetua player for the second time, sending him off the pitch. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Perpetua, with 53 percent of the ball.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Perpetua had a chance to take the lead after H. Deflandre's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled out as his shot went just over the bar after 94 minutes. There was still no winner after 30 minutes of extra time so the teams had to select a lineup for a penalty shoot-out to settle the result.

Perpetua's S. Ramovi coolly put the ball past I. Krinizky. 2 - 1. Oooh - how unlucky! Juniors's D. Rosee attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of N. Taweewattana. The score stays 2 - 1. Perpetua's D. Aghemo made no mistake. I. Krinizky didn't have a chance. 3 - 1. Clearly nervous from the start, Juniors's S. Crivelli took a long run up, but could only blast the ball over the bar. The score remains 3 - 1. Perpetua's C. Caldera showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 4 - 1. Juniors's M. Dietel appeared to lose his focus as he laid down an easy shot. N. Taweewattana's concentration wasn't any better however, as the ball passed him on the right for 4 - 2. Perpetua's G. De Keersmaeker looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 4 - 2. Juniors's G. Brubach didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of N. Taweewattana. The score remained 4 - 2. Perpetua's C. Thomassin looked like he knew exactly where he wanted to put the ball, but unfortunately his shot went wide of the left hand post. Still 4 - 2. Juniors's C. Düsi looked nervous even as he was putting the ball on the spot. He didn't take much of a run up, and his weak shot was easily saved by the keeper. Perpetua's top performer was clearly C. Caldera. N. Taweewattana turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Juniors player was B. Pfäffli. D. Rosee on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 2.
