Duc almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert A. Dauvergne blocked it to keep the score level. 32 minutes into the game, a swerving free kick by J. Klinkenberg almost resulted in the home team taking the lead, but the shot glanced harmlessly off the frame of the goal. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. C. Jacoby wasn't much help defensively. His energy-consuming forward runs proved quite costly in the oppressive heat. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, D. Seress got himself booked. The manager of OTRA was not happy. Some great play up the middle by OLYMPIQUE led to a chance for J. Larsen to score after 78 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. OTRA had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. With 79 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of OTRA resulted in a counterattack that set X. Vicaire free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. The sunny day didn't make things easy for J. Mourgues who didn't seem his usual powerful self on the pitch. L. Cancé delivered a good free kick from an excellent position 85 minutes into the game, but luck wasn't on OTRA's side this time and the ball went wide. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by OLYMPIQUE, with 51 percent of the ball.

As neither team was able to break the deadlock before the end of regular play, the teams took to the field again for extra time. The sun seemed to put D. Seress in a great mood, and he showed off his technical skills all match long. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Q. Philippe slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against J. Quintelles, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. OLYMPIQUE took the lead 105 minutes in, as J. Klinkenberg broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. Game over, OLYMPIQUE win! V. Musayev performed admirably for OLYMPIQUE. On the other hand, J. Klinkenberg's play was disheartening. The most dominating OTRA player was without a doubt A. Stiebriņš. J. Mourgues turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 0.
