Due to an all-day shower, 1005 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Bollo de Beer Stadion. Claus Gallas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Yiannis Yiannopoulos and Luigi Arena. RVO had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. V. van den Berg of RVO seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 0 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by J. van Rijckevorsel. 10 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as R. Klomp broke through, making the score 2 - 0 for RVO. E. Blaauw of leie was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. RVO had to make a substitution after 35 minutes. G. van Meekeren limped off the field and was replaced by K. Meulders. Thighs bulging, R. Winkelman charged past the weaker players, seemingly oblivious to the rain. RVO made it 3 - 0 as R. Klomp got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to G. Boersema who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Confident in their lead, RVO's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. N. Ibn-Faisal should probably have put his team up another goal after 42 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by S. Fjellheim kept the visitors in the game. 3 - 0 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to RVO, who controlled the ball 75 percent of the time.

A great save by keeper S. Fjellheim after 67 minutes kept the visitors in the game after J. van Rijckevorsel struck from the left with a real cannonball. After 68 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by J. van Rijckevorsel might have resulted in another goal for RVO. However, S. Fjellheim made a spectacular save. It was a bad day for the usually speedy Y. Ferran. The mud seemed to slow him down. With 81 minutes played, J. van Rijckevorsel could have brought this one home for RVO as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. RVO enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 77 percent of possession.

RVO's best player was J. van Rijckevorsel. H. Cömert turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important leie player was Y. Ferran. D. Orlandi was a disappointment, however. The match ends 3 - 0.
