Dark skies made the crowd of 2128 at Faxe Arena a little nervous, but the rain held off. Calixto Serrano Crespo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Leonhard Mildner and James Schavemaker. 1.FC had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Starters: García - Leyerle, Behrmann, Huidobro, Ciprés, Osborne - Bothmer, Seidinger, Rohweddell, Smolinski - Petri.

Grandies started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Dragomir - Cristiano, Carton, Laye - Terán, Karamanlis, Castel, Sagot, Coniad - Haj-Shareef, van Gastel.

1.FC clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. Today, Grandies's strategy involved concentrating on the flanks for their attacks. Grandies had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead. Grandies's R. van Gastel managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 7 minutes. 0 - 1. 9 minutes into the match, P. Karamanlis came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Grandies increased their lead after 20 minutes when M. Cristiano broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. Unfortunately for 1.FC, E. García suffered a concussion after 27 minutes and had to be taken for tests. The coach had his head in his hands after realising he could not send a replacement onto the pitch, and the team had to continue a man short. S. Leyerle rose to the challenge and took position between the goal posts. It was obvious that team 1.FC had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. 33 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 3 as F. Castel finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Grandies, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

S. Coniad was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Grandies's I. Haj-Shareef managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 0 - 4 By now, the players in Grandies felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward. Grandies were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. I. Haj-Shareef of Grandies took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 79 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 5. With 80 minutes played, L. Smolinski of 1.FC fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Given a free kick close to the byline, Grandies tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let M. Cristiano slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 6, 82 minutes into the game. It was obvious that Grandies had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. After 83 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed I. Haj-Shareef to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 7. At that, I. Haj-Shareef was noted down for a hat trick! With 85 minutes played, Grandies put themselves up 0 - 8 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was R. van Gastel. Grandies enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

1.FC's best player was H. Petri. However, F. Huidobro made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Grandies player was without a doubt R. van Gastel. P. Karamanlis on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 8.
