571 fans turned up at Empire Arena, and despite threatening clouds, no rain came. Agapito Sosa was the appointed referee. Gentlemen prefer blondes and Football prefers a 5-4-1. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players took the field: Cunha Rocha - Capece, Basauri, Eryiğit, Chevrollier, Vegas - Venturi, Miquel, Verze, Diakonow - Rajković.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Strongest will go to battle in a 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Paul - de Espadanedo, Parot, Gürcan, Kavalauskas - Cengiz, Hartmannsdorf, Castell, Racioppi, Kung - Archundia.

A excellent level of counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Strongest. P. Gürcan will have Excedrin Headache number 5 after heading home the hard corner kick from D. Castell after 8 minutes of play. I'm sure that making the score 0 - 1 will assuage him a bit, though. After 39 minutes Strongest's P. Gürcan contracted a slight foot injury, but said he could still finish the game. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Football, with an impressive 64 percent possession of the ball.

After 53 minutes, Football substituted C. Miquel for R. Larsson, hoping for a quick impact on the field. Strongest's Ž. Kavalauskas wanted to play on, but after 70 minutes the decision was made to give R. Hulzinga a chance in his place. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Strongest coach let A. Akıska come on for M. Archundia after 75 minutes. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Football's S. Rajković was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 78 minutes. B. Kalani was given a chance to change things around. The bench was restless, and with 78 minutes gone Football's coach gave Š. Mate the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. J. Venturi reluctantly left the field. The Football coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change their strategy. A couple of hard elbows 78 minutes in resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team and S. Diakonow put the ball into the back of the net without any difficulty. That tied the score up at 1 - 1. Strongest had a great opportunity to score following a counter-attack after 84 minutes, but D. Castell's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. With 87 minutes of the match played, a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but M. Cengiz, after dashing down on goal from the left and finding himself with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Football would have 57 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Most important Football player was S. Diakonow. I can't remember P. Capece ever having a worse night than he just had. Strongest's top performer was clearly A. Akıska. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because R. Hulzinga seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 1 - 1.
