Dark skies made the crowd of 256 at Bigmauve Anfield Road a little nervous, but the rain held off. Carlo Vanherck was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Aleksi Pantzar and Nikolas Karpenisis. rsc.bigmauve tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Marchant - Dusart, Van Loon, Petit, Cammaerts - Van Humbeeck, Mus, Cieciura, Seurinck - Tomkins, Strömbo.

Koninklijke started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. Starters: Lepore - Bourguignon, Szöllősi, Marlier - Kalamut, Bjørnsen, Silvestre, Zubalík - Slight, Kusé, Bert.

Koninklijke seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. The coach of rsc.bigmauve wanted to try to change things around after 1 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when L. Marlier slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against P. Marchant, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. With 15 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. M. Zubalík put the ball away for 0 - 1. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Koninklijke, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 18 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for G. Bourguignon who increased Koninklijke's lead to 0 - 2. F. Kusé increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 3. Confident in their lead, Koninklijke's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Z. Kalamut of Koninklijke took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 22 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 4. Halftime score was 0 - 4. Koninklijke claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.

The head of J. Cammaerts connected with a corner kick after 70 minutes, and the ball ended up with A. Tomkins of rsc.bigmauve who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1 - 4. With 76 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed P. Slight of Koninklijke to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 1 - 5. A drive down the left side allowed Z. Kalamut to get in close and score another goal for Koninklijke after 78 minutes, taking the score to 1 - 6. S. Bjørnsen looked like he could use a snooze after 79 minutes, as C. Cieciura took the ball from under his nose and almost scored for rsc.bigmauve! After 83 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave G. Bourguignon a chance to increase the lead for Koninklijke, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 7. There was concern in the stands when, at the 85 minute mark, rsc.bigmauve's L. Strömbo hit the ground hard, but he refused the attention of the trainer and rejoined his teammates on the pitch. With 86 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience, D. Mus needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. P. Bert was, after 87 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper P. Marchant made the save. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Bert from Koninklijke a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 89 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! The cannonball from 35 metres by C. Cieciura of rsc.bigmauve was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net. After 89 minutes, Koninklijke's M. Zubalík burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 8. Koninklijke enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 67 percent of possession.

Most important rsc.bigmauve player was L. Strömbo. P. Marchant turned in a dismal performance, however. P. Bert performed admirably for Koninklijke. On the other hand, S. Bjørnsen's play was disheartening. The match ends 1 - 8.
