Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 2222 at Florea Dumitrache Park today. Nikolaos Fasoulakis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bogdan Lyshchev and Paul-Werner von Ellm. DIN decided to use a 4-3-3 set up. Kanikes tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Bastons - Tillind, Vinuesa, Berciano - Pen, Cisneros, Ślifirski, Marchena, Lacalle - Plejdrup, Balcells.

DIN took a creative approach on the field. After 22 minutes, Kanikes raised their score by one when A. Pen's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by A. Balcells. 0 - 1. After 31 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for J. Plejdrup who increased Kanikes's lead to 0 - 2. The referee showed Kanikes's E. Berciano the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The player down was D. Grigore. The DIN bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up. After a savage shot that could only be parried by the keeper, J. Plejdrup demonstrated his experience by being in just the right place to slot home the rebound. His goal for Kanikes 40 minutes into the match made the score 0 - 3. After this, you could see that the players of Kanikes were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals. After 41 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave J. Plejdrup a chance to increase the lead for Kanikes, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 4. This third goal completed a hattrick for J. Plejdrup. The crowd gasped as M. Dumitra of DIN was flattened by an opponent after 42 minutes and had to be carried off. R. Lucea came in off the bench. With 43 minutes played, Kanikes put themselves up 0 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was J. Plejdrup. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, D. Ślifirski got himself booked. The manager of Kanikes was not happy. 0 - 5 was the halftime score. Kanikes had most of the ball, with 76 percent of possession.

With 48 minutes played, B. Cisneros nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. The Kanikes players could smell victory in the air. B. Tillind wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for T. Seheim after 50 minutes. A. Guliciuc hit the corner kick straight to the keeper, but it was mishandled, giving DIN's P. Dobrin an easy chance to knock it in for 1 - 5. The home crowd was not impressed when B. Cisneros came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 64 minutes. Kanikes were now up 1 - 6. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave C. Şerbănescu from DIN a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 66 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 67 minutes J. Plejdrup made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to A. Balcells who shuffled it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 7. After 68 minutes of game time, M. Vinuesa had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but D. Grigore was in the right place and tipped the ball over for a corner. J. Lacalle of Kanikes took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 74 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 8. C. Lită of DIN was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. After 81 minutes, Kanikes's A. Balcells burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 9. At that, A. Balcells was noted down for a hat trick! Possession in this half belonged to Kanikes, who controlled the ball 74 percent of the time.

The most dominating DIN player was without a doubt F. Buchauer. R. Lucea was a disappointment, however. Kanikes's best player was A. Pen. T. Seheim turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 9.
