It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 61702 that came out to
Nursing Home.
Peep Siinma was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Georg Schinner and
Tip Steinmeijer.
OAPs started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
The following players took the field: Ricceri - Gray, MacAbin, Kilgallon - Sincler, Standish, 宽筏 (Kuanfa) , Thurfoot, Harkrader - Mata, Pintu.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for London.
Lineup: Mason - Duguid, Larson, Kulišić - Zabina, Slesser, Schneider, Smart, Middleton - Marango, Sarkar.
London clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
OAPs could have put themselves ahead after 25 minutes but
M. Pintu missed a volley shot on a ball coming in from the right.
Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile
B. MacAbin.
The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 32 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
J. Standish, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
1 - 0 was the score after the first half.
OAPs claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for London, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
Coming through the middle
C. Sarkar almost scored the equaliser for London after 60 minutes, but
A. Ricceri made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post.
Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
A. Mata squirmed through their central defence after 66 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0.
73 minutes into the match, London replied and reduced the lead to 2 - 1.
C. Sarkar scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left.
The referee showed OAPs's
J. Standish the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
After 76 minutes, OAPs were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the taker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his team mates a bit by surprise.
M. Pintu did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
OAPs's
A. Mata was shown a yellow card after 76 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
E. Schneider got left behind when OAPs's
M. Sincler made a sudden run forward after 77 minutes, finishing off with a neat strike. 3 - 1!
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 79 minutes, OAPs did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
A. Mata was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 1.
London were desperate to get a goal back and pushed forward through the middle 86 minutes into the game. After a scramble in the box, the ball dropped to
M. Marango, who smashed it home to make the score 4 - 2.
87 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
M. Pintu broke through, making the score 5 - 2 for OAPs.
OAPs enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.
The most dominating OAPs player was without a doubt
温. 宽筏 (Kuanfa) .
M. Sincler was a disappointment, however.
London's top performer was clearly
C. Sarkar.
However,
O. Larson made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 5 - 2.
