650 fans braved the pouring rain at
Burgdorf Arena.
Carlos María Rojas was the appointed referee.
Burgdorf had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Gargawi - Mulder, Nyhin, MacNamell - Winnenden, Risland, De iudicubus, Wale, Hanusarson - Frémont, 立发 (Lizong).
Girlpower decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Lineup: Capritti - Robertsson, Huvi, Panasiti - Kahveci, Ullmann, Francia, Wisman, Kroeger - Zakir, Kuhn .
Pressing was the tactic of the day for Burgdorf.
Girlpower were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Burgdorf took the lead 5 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
J. Wale elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but
R. Ullmann showed great heart and had a good game.
M. Nyhin should probably have put his team up another goal after 17 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
G. Capritti kept the visitors in the game.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Burgdorf scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
J. Frémont after 19 minutes.
The away team improved the scoreline to 2 - 1, as
L. Robertsson struck home, set up well by a play on the left 23 minutes into the match.
It was a bad day for the usually speedy
J. Frémont. The mud seemed to slow him down.
Halftime score was 2 - 1.
Burgdorf enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 58 percent of possession.
After 48 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
M. Mulder gave the Burgdorf supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1.
After 56 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
F. De iudicubus might have resulted in another goal for Burgdorf. However,
G. Capritti made a spectacular save.
Burgdorf's
F. De iudicubus swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the Burgdorf coach let
P. Iturriaga replace
J. Wale after 70 minutes.
Girlpower had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
Ater 75 minutes
O. Kroeger seized on an opportunistic attack from the right, and scored for Girlpower making it 3 - 2.
Burgdorf increased the lead as
F. De iudicubus struck to make the score 4 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper.
Burgdorf claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
Most important Burgdorf player was
J. Frémont.
M. Mulder on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Girlpower's top performer was clearly
L. Kuhn .
However,
A. Huvi made a disastrous appearance.
