previous 1/10 next 3/10  Aston 4 - 4 Lostwizards (378491155)

1963 fans braved the pouring rain at Aston Bidda Arena. Hero Haring was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Sören Stojanoff and Guillaume Karras. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Aston. The following players had been chosen: Magnusson - Dolce, Piga - Fresu, Gaias, Calò, Cadamuro, Piattelli - Ciuffo, Gaias, Ardilla.

Lostwizards decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Pimpl - Ferreira, Antoniuk, Vandewiele - Rogala, Pałubiński, Grzymek, Corral, Tóth - Onyszkiewicz, Gandecki.

Lostwizards clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. After 1 minutes, the Lostwizards coach made a sign to A. Grzymek, who soon changed positions with J. Rogala. M. Dolce was uncomfortable with the soggy pitch as he couldn't move the ball around with his usual grace. After 25 minutes, L. Cadamuro came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 1 - 0, giving Aston the lead. R. Fresu unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Possession in this half belonged to Aston, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

With things not going too well on the field, the Lostwizards coach made the decision to swap the positions of S. Gandecki and W. Pałubiński with 46 minutes played. Sensing defeat in the air, the Lostwizards manager directed J. Antoniuk and A. Corral to change positions with each other. This was 46 minutes into the match. Lostwizards players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Coming through the middle S. Gandecki almost scored the equaliser for Lostwizards after 72 minutes, but L. Magnusson made an excellent save, tipping the awkwardly curled shot past the post. 73 minutes into the game, Aston's A. Piga surprised the visitors with a raking cross-field pass to R. Fresu who easily found the back of the net, making the score 2 - 0. The visitors replied 76 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 2 - 1, as P. Tóth dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. R. Ardilla increased the lead for Aston to 3 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! 86 minutes in, Aston's L. Cadamuro received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, J. Rogala of Lostwizards spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. After 88 minutes, A. Ferreira sent the corner kick right to J. Antoniuk who headed it sharply past the keeper. 3 - 2! Aston managed to extend their lead to 4 - 2 when R. Fresu cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. With 89 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock, Lostwizards showed some good skill and were able to reduce the score to 4 - 3 when J. Rogala got past the home side's central defenders right in front of the goal. 89 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 4 - 4 as X. Vandewiele struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right. Aston had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

T. Calò performed admirably for Aston. L. Magnusson was a disappointment, however. Lostwizards's top performer was clearly J. Antoniuk. However, F. Pimpl made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 4 - 4.
