(378598513)

26-04-2012 00.50
Due to an all-day shower, 3557 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
NEW PIKO Y PALA.
Willy Sand was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Antonio García and
Daniel Martos.
SUZIOX started off with a 3-4-3 lineup.
Lineup: Villa - Hettrykau, Gerdin, Löwik - Arsenov, Bonfeld, Georgantzis, Ankum - Otto, Krutzelegi, Jansegers.
Fighters had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Blanckaert - Munger, Dias, Senekowitsch - Diez, Fresneda, São José, Wartensleben, Grim - Veerlann, Olczyk.
Fighters's counterattacks created a good chance for
A. São José on the right after 9 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar.
The home keeper expected a move to the right, but
M. Fresneda surprised him with a free kick aimed the other way 27 minutes into the match. 0 - 1 for Fighters.
The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
T. Hettrykau from SUZIOX a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 35 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
A loud groan was heard from the fans of Fighters, as
M. Fresneda left the pitch in too much pain to finish the match.
B. Brown took his place on the field.
T. Hettrykau of SUZIOX seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 1 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by
S. Bonfeld.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Fighters's
O. Wartensleben after 43 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 1 - 2 lead.
1 - 2 was the score after the first half.
SUZIOX claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
A. Arsenov showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 57 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 2 - 2 equaliser away.
I. Otto gave SUZIOX the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 3 - 2
The boggy pitch disrupted the game, especially for technical players like
M. Olczyk.
M. Olczyk finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 3 - 3 60 minutes into the match.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
J. Munger got himself booked. The manager of Fighters was not happy.
SUZIOX enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
Still tied after 90 minutes, the match continued into extra time.
SUZIOX took the lead 93 minutes in, as
I. Otto broke through on the left and put the 4 - 3 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Extra time over, SUZIOX were the victors!
SUZIOX's best player was
I. Otto.
E. Löwik turned in a dismal performance, however.
Most important Fighters player was
S. Veerlann.
Z. Diez on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 4 - 3.
