15-05-2012 18.30
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 2460 had shown up at
Rote Halsband Arena for the match.
Carlo Stefanoni was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Håkan Lagermar and
Rene Seiler-Thon.
Halsband had chosen a strategic 1-5-3 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Bayerkuhnlein - Brás - Toikka, Biczyk, Al-Sharafi, Röwer, Zúñiga - Siegl, Treppmann, Gaiser.
Sharkbait started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
They fielded: Matysiak - Wannack, Pasquel, Vidigal - Vips, Steinrück, Rekstad, Bazbandi, Rojas - Tienhoven, Cuciniello.
Halsband clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle.
The home crowd was not impressed by the fancy moves of Sharkbait's
D. Cuciniello after 3 minutes. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, resulting in the visitors taking the 0 - 1 lead.
4 minutes in, Halsband's
T. Röwer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
G. Wannack could have put his team up another goal 12 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post.
Y. Bazbandi of Sharkbait took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 19 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2.
25 minutes in, Halsband appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only
passable.
After 26 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as Halsband found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to
inadequate.
Sharkbait came close to extending their lead as
D. Rojas delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 29 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting.
30 minutes into the game, Halsband seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a
weak level of organisation.
It was 0 - 2 at the break.
Sharkbait had most of the ball, with 60 percent of possession.
A review of the gameplan helped Halsband get back to a
solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again.
The visitors'
G. Wannack took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 54 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Sharkbait.
The home crowd was not impressed when
T. Tienhoven came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 74 minutes. Sharkbait were now up 0 - 4.
The players of Sharkbait now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle.
After 75 minutes, Halsband's
L. Gaiser fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
A weary-looking
G. Brás struggled to keep pace with the advancing attack, but he just didn't have the energy and let Sharkbait's
D. Cuciniello through to score, making it 0 - 5.
T. Tienhoven increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 6.
82 minutes into the game, Sharkbait worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
Sharkbait enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.
Halsband's top performer was clearly
N. Zúñiga.
On the other hand,
G. Brás's play was disheartening.
Sharkbait's best player was
Y. Bazbandi.
G. Wannack turned in a dismal performance, however.
The match ends 0 - 6.
