Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Melbourne.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
V. Nowak was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 4 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
Yeovil's
V. Nowak managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 7 minutes. 0 - 1.
A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by
V. Grégoire. At last, Yeovil's

C. Longhurst after 22 minutes, and prevented Yeovil from going up another goal.

V. Nowak did attempt a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball into the away fans.
E. Tatangelo was, after 68 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
F. Paiva made the save.

N. Teodorof made way for

S. Morgan came on,
E. Hernesniemi had to leave the fray.
After the ball was lifted in from the left,
N. Bô Na was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 72 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration.
Possession in this half belonged to Yeovil, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.
The most dominating Melbourne player was without a doubt
D. McGrady.
K. Jousmäki on the other hand, had a terrible day.
