(379554871)

29-05-2012 19.20
The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 1903 had shown up at
Gustavo Arciotti Stadium for the match.
Armanjani Karim Haj-Kaleel was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Teodor Kuligowski and
Tomke Ingricht.
Megres had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation.
Lineup: Vera - Scarselletti, Sponseiler, Amado, Adlermann - Persin, Brunelli, Makovskiy, Godena, Marazza - Salomon.
Cobzon started off with a 4-4-2 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Shpringer - Rontti, Berger, Ben-Tzvi, Luz - Logan, Bykov, Engler, Salomon - Aharonov, Meirov.
It was an obvious ambition of Cobzon to use their ability at attacking on the flanks.
E. Berger received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 8 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score.
S. Salomon had a good try after 18 minutes, coming in on a fine move from the left, but the ball went wide.
After 19 minutes, Megres were awarded a free kick as their counter attack broke down. The set piece was lifted over the top, intended to open up the defence. However, the target man seemed to be taken by surprise, and could not reach the ball before it crossed the line for a goal kick.
21 minutes into the game,
O. Persin had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came
F. Cordone.
The Megres captaincy was handed to
D. Scarselletti.
Megres took the lead 28 minutes in, as
A. Marazza broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
Megres's
O. Adlermann increased the lead to 2 - 0, after he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper following some good play down the right wing after 31 minutes.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
Megres claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.
Cobzon's
C. Luz was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 68 minutes.
77 minutes into the match, a typically brave header by
D. Aharonov from
F. Logan's cross looped just over the opposing goalkeeper's desperate reach. Goal for Cobzon, making the score 2 - 1.
With 78 minutes played, Megres's
A. Sponseiler almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net.
A. Sponseiler of Megres received a yellow card after 80 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
After 81 minutes Cobzon's
F. Logan contracted a slight foot injury, but didn't want to leave the game.
After 82 minutes,
A. Marazza put Megres ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
Cobzon had a good opportunity to attack in the middle, but remembered their instructions to focus on wing attacks instead.
Cobzon had a fair chance to reply after 86 minutes due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end
N. Meirov was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish.
O. Adlermann could have put Megres up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 87 minutes.
Megres had most of the ball, with 73 percent of possession.
The most dominating Megres player was without a doubt
N. Brunelli.
D. Vera turned in a dismal performance, however.
D. Aharonov performed admirably for Cobzon.
E. Shpringer on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 3 - 1.
