previous 4/10 next 6/10  Returns 0 - 3 Torre (380075882)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 18638 at Sir Bobby Charlton today. Harry Isometsä was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Davut Emek and Carl-Ernst Schüttenhelm. Returns tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players took the field: Di Vaio - valonga, Lia, Herzog - Otarsoy, Tsurkan, van Gendt, Aras, Varo - Tramonto, Sapir.

Torre started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: de la Maza - Dolecki, Pardo Otero, Öhquist - Conalos, Salas, Carlés, Colomer, Moreno - Bastardes, Biagioni.

F. Bastardes came close to putting the visiting team one up 8 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but G. Di Vaio managed to tip the ball to a corner. Down the middle came A. Carlés, making a fantastic play that nearly had Torre take the lead after 21 minutes, but G. Di Vaio preserved the tie. Torre's A. Carlés could have put the guests one up after 33 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but G. Di Vaio was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. 0 - 1 was the score with 35 minutes played, after J. Salas cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Torre. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Returns, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

U. Conalos received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 58 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 2. The Torre fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. D. Biagioni of Torre took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 61 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Torre lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. T. Öhquist left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 70 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. X. Da Ying was the replacement. Content with how the game was proceeding, the Torre coach let G. Pocha replace J. Salas after 70 minutes. B. Moreno wanted to play on, but the Torre coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by J. Lobo Heras. The referee showed Returns's M. Tramonto the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Returns, with 52 percent of the ball.

G. Di Vaio performed admirably for Returns. A. Sapir turned in a dismal performance, however. Most important Torre player was F. Bastardes. On the other hand, U. Conalos's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 3.
