It was an obvious ambition of STEAUA to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. Delije83 clearly preferred using their ability to attack in the middle. With 9 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 1 - 0 lead as V. Penezić flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Delije83 were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally. Delije83 tied it all up, 13 minutes in, after a spectacular goal by M. Csertői, who miraculously broke through the home side's central defence, making it 1 - 1. STEAUA had a great opportunity to score following a counterattack after 18 minutes, but N. Tzarfati's shot from the left sailed high over the bar. After 20 minutes, A. Ribas came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving STEAUA the lead. A lot of people in the terraces claimed the penalty resulting in Delije83's D. Campeggi equaliser for 2 - 2 was a mistake by the referee. He did, however, have a very good view of the situation from his position. Some great play up the middle by STEAUA led to a chance for H. Iweins d'Eeckhoutte to score after 28 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. STEAUA broke through on the left 31 minutes into the game, with A. Ribas firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 3 - 2 lead. 3 - 2 was the halftime score. STEAUA had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

With 59 minutes played, P. Pawiński came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by Delije83. N. Tzarfati wanted to play on, but the STEAUA coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 60 minutes into the game by Y. Küpfer. A free kick just outside of the visitors' penalty area after 60 minutes could have resulted in another goal, but 焦. 东宝 (Dongbao) got a hand out and tipped the ball over the bar. S. Hadad left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 65 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. P. Tsiampouris was the replacement. Delije83 levelled the score after 67 minutes to make it 3 - 3, as P. Pawiński struck home after a fine midfield combination through the centre, which left him completely unmarked. Possession in this half belonged to STEAUA, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

As neither team had managed to win, extra time was called. STEAUA were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. The home side put themselves ahead 4 - 3 after 102 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from P. Tsiampouris, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. With that STEAUA had won the game in extra time. Most important STEAUA player was P. Tsiampouris. However, P. Iffländer made a disastrous appearance. Delije83's top performer was clearly R.
