previous 7/10 next 9/10  Gellese 1 - 2 $@VI$ (380296911)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 21907 at Piggiurato di Lammari today. Hinrik Löwis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Eduardo Gaio and Sebastian Manolescu. Gellese had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. They fielded: Günther - Nemoda, Bodó, Zátopek - Ustrell, Mein, Göransson, Gelli, Vitalone - Gehrz, Drăguş.

A 4-3-3 alignment was the formation of choice for $@VI$. The following players had been chosen: Rigo - Kühbauer, Moc, Ifrach, Miceli - Bladsten, Picozzo, Eberle - Streiff, Sáenz, Raso.

The visiting A. Sáenz was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 5 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave P. Moc from $@VI$ a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 27 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! R. Gehrz charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equaliser for Gellese, but the shot went well wide of the goal. After 39 minutes, R. Gehrz made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 1 - 1. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Gellese claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.

$@VI$'s A. Sáenz gave the visitors a 1 - 2 lead after 48 minutes with a superb strike from the right. With 60 minutes played, the Gellese coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. A. Revilla came on, B. Drăguş had to leave the fray. Gellese's C. Bodó put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 61 minutes, but the ball went wide. The bench was restless, and with 75 minutes passed Gellese's coach gave D. Mei the opportunity the player had been hoping for. C. Bodó reluctantly left the field. E. Zátopek was the new captain of Gellese - handed the armband by the departing player. Possession in this half belonged to Gellese, who controlled the ball 64 percent of the time.

Gellese's best player was R. Gehrz. F. Günther turned in a dismal performance, however. A. Raso performed admirably for $@VI$. However, S. Ifrach made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.
