04-08-2012 12.00
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 31700 that came out to
Pochi ma buoni.
Fred Rammar was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alois Kapkiner and
Torsten Boghi.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Future.
Starters: Spignoli - Cacciamani, Gobnesti, Maran - Baiani, Vincenti, Portaro, Luperto, Sanfilippo - Fontanili, Nicosia.
Torino decided to use a 4-3-3 set up.
The following players took the field: Olivi - Veneziano, Arci, Condorelli, Lo Giudice - Rienzo, Gaggini, De Gregorio - Ventura, Piasenzotto, Fracchia.
For their match strategy, Torino had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible.
Future's
M. Baiani tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
A counterattack by Torino after 22 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
N. Ventura, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off.
With 27 minutes played,
N. Luperto of Future fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Many thought
P. Nicosia ought to have been awarded a penalty 28 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
R. Olivi after a determined run through the middle.
With 29 minutes played
M. Fontanili almost gave the home side the lead with an unexpected free kick set up, but the visitors'
R. Olivi was onto it, grabbing the would be breakthrough ball.
Future took the lead 32 minutes in, as
N. Luperto broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper.
A great save by keeper
R. Olivi after 33 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
P. Maran struck from the left with a real cannonball.
Halftime score was 1 - 0.
Future claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.
Things were deteriorating for the away team as Future scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
P. Nicosia after 54 minutes.
M. Fontanili increased Future's lead to 3 - 0 with a penalty spot cannonball.
N. Luperto should probably have put his team up another goal after 65 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by
R. Olivi kept the visitors in the game.
Coming in from the right, Torino had a good opportunity to convert on a counterattack after 66 minutes, but
L. Condorelli's attempt to finish was easily stopped.
After 80 minutes, Torino switched
G. De Gregorio with
S. Cacaglione, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch.
Future enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.
Most important Future player was
P. Vincenti.
However,
M. Spignoli made a disastrous appearance.
The most dominating Torino player was without a doubt
N. Ventura.
R. Olivi was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
