It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 43060 that came out to
Dreams Theater Arena.
Manole Manole was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Hans S Munkvold and
Danilo Gallego.
Dreams had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
The following players took the field: Paredes - Sossio, Alicante, Ringevičius - Gargallo, Soldevilla, Martikorena, Mercado, Pàmies - Zapatero, Canciller.
Chanes tactics involved an interesting 2-5-3 combination.
Starters: Porras - Hadlee, Rełko - Bolognesi, Di Bidino, Ramos Martín, Lanari, Salazar Cabrera - Brânză, Flambrant, Ličman.
Dreams used their ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings.
Dreams broke through on the left 2 minutes into the game, with
G. Pàmies firing in from an acute angle to give the home side a 1 - 0 lead.
With 20 minutes played,
A. Zapatero of Dreams fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Cheers filled the stadium as
J. Ringevičius broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 2 - 0 to Dreams.
J. Mercado enjoyed the sunshine and demonstrated his stunning technique over and over again.
Coming from the right,
J. Mercado almost managed to score another goal for Dreams, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper.
It was 2 - 0 at the break.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dreams, with 62 percent of the ball.
Chanes reduced the deficit to 2 - 1 with a penalty placed perfectly beside the left post by
V. Hadlee.
After 48 minutes,
A. Martikorena put Dreams ahead 3 - 1 when he rose to head in a cross from the right wing.
S. Gargallo increased the lead for Dreams to 4 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it!
Chanes's
D. Di Bidino got himself booked for a foul.
G. Pàmies wanted to play on, but the Dreams coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 70 minutes into the game by
G. Landacaranda.
Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Dreams, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity.
72 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
G. Landacaranda broke through, making the score 5 - 1 for Dreams.
The coach of Dreams was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 75 minutes,
P. Taravillo came on for
O. Soldevilla.
Dreams solidified their lead at the 78 minute mark, as
J. Mercado dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 6 - 1.
Confident in their lead, Dreams's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
Dreams claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 65 percent.
Dreams's top performer was clearly
J. Mercado.
S. Gargallo was a disappointment, however.
Most important Chanes player was
D. Ličman.
On the other hand,
V. Hadlee's play was disheartening.
The match ends 6 - 1.
