Sarzeda saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 33 minutes. With 35 minutes played, A. Atom could have brought this one home for Players as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Players, with 53 percent of the ball.

Players put themselves up 2 - 0 when P. Succo broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. L. Ożga unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors' keeper did well to tip wide. Players had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. P.
