15900 fans braved the pouring rain at
El gran turron.
Jaakko Lilius was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Toni Boellaard and
Enno Schülli.
A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Pitote.
The following players had been chosen: Casino - De Schampheleire, Choquet, Guerrero - Díaz de Casriego, Bond, Gilson, Gabler, Robles - El-Wakili, Savakis.
Kyaro decided to use a 3-5-2 set up.
Starters: Martorell - Perelló, Shpilevskiy, Falch Andersen - Rueda, Montesinos, Papell, Rezeš, Papperger - Lisakowski, Padevět.
L. Bond was struggling to make the ball dance with his usual trickery and panache, and the opposing players had little trouble shutting him down in these muddy conditions.
The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
P. Lisakowski was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 6 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead!
12 minutes into the game,
P. Lisakowski almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar.
After 21 minutes Kyaro's
E. Rezeš limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue.
29 minutes into the match, Kyaro nearly took the lead, as
P. Lisakowski broke through on the right.
A. Casino made the save, however.
30 minutes in, Pitote's
M. El-Wakili received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Pitote's
A. Savakis tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders.
0 - 0 was the halftime score.

P. Lisakowski came close to putting the visiting team one up 47 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
A. Casino managed to tip the ball to a corner.
Kyaro's
E. Rueda got himself booked for a foul.
The player down was
J. Choquet. The Pitote bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 66 minutes into the match left Kyaro's
E. Rueda completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
The home crowd was not impressed when
E. Rezeš came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 67 minutes. Kyaro were now up 0 - 2.
Confident in their lead, Kyaro's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it.
D. Didzis was called on to replace Kyaro's
A. Papell after 69 minutes following a nasty collision.
With 70 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
E. Papperger of Kyaro to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3.
D. Didzis was having a great game - if anything the pouring rain seemed to be spurring him on!
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Kyaro, with 57 percent of the ball.
M. Gabler performed admirably for Pitote.
However,
J. Choquet made a disastrous appearance.
Kyaro's best player was
D. Didzis.
V. Montesinos on the other hand, had a terrible day.
The match ends 0 - 3.
