21-07-2012 18.00
It had rained all day, but 16446 hardy fans still made it out to
Maiglöckchen-Arena.
Demetrio Matienzo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Matteo D'Alessandro and
Gergely Csemer.
A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Scharrel/City.
Starters: Conti - Schmitt, Junnilainen - Bastin, Skořepa, Pirker, Svenningsen, Höse - Hanon, Guin, Delponte.
Mittelschwaben had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation.
They fielded: Auguste - Spörke, Fernberg, Ixmeier - Steffan, Plönitz, Latte, Imp, Semrau - Drobilitsch, Eisenhofer.
Mittelschwaben's
M. Latte had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 27 minutes having been played.
J. Riesch was the replacement.
J. Drobilitsch came close to putting the visiting team one up 30 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
E. Conti managed to tip the ball to a corner.
They were singing the praises of
N. Schmitt 31 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Scharrel/City.
34 minutes into the match the visitors levelled the score at 1 - 1 as
S. Eisenhofer struck home from a rebound off the crossbar, following a shot from the right.
The unexpected cross pass from Mittelschwaben's
R. Semrau after 35 minutes opened up the defence and was received by
J. Drobilitsch who finished off for 1 - 2.
Scharrel/City's
N. Junnilainen almost tied things up with 36 minutes played after breaking through on the right, but his shot deflected off the post.
1 - 2 was the score after the first half.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Mittelschwaben, with 59 percent of the ball.
Scharrel/City's
B. Svenningsen put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 47 minutes, but the ball went wide.
72 minutes into the game, Mittelschwaben worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
Mittelschwaben's
R. Semrau was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box -
S. Eisenhofer managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 3 after 74 minutes.
Scharrel/City's
A. Bastin was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 79 minutes.
S. Eisenhofer increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 4.
This third goal completed a hattrick for
S. Eisenhofer.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of Mittelschwaben lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Scharrel/City had a brilliant opportunity to reply as
J. Hanon received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only
L. Auguste's reflexes saved him.
R. Spörke of Mittelschwaben took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 89 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 1 - 5.
Possession in this half belonged to Mittelschwaben, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.
Scharrel/City's best player was
J. Hanon.
L. Pirker turned in a dismal performance, however.
The most dominating Mittelschwaben player was without a doubt
J. Drobilitsch.
On the other hand,
I. Ixmeier's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 5.
