previous 1/10 next 3/10  Rosemeadow 1 - 3 Devils (386978339)

Clouds darkened the skies at The Royal Court as 35231 spectators turned up for the match. Bert Stentoft was the appointed referee. Everyone was excited about the upcoming New South Wales derby and the crowd was divided evenly. Rosemeadow tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. Lineup: Shebunin - Saba, Gaul, Duglio, Hemminki - Paris, Piper, Krilich, Tomčić - Klompstra, Helling.

Devils started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players took the field: Rostorp - Iturmendi, Carcatella, Chambers - Denezhkina, Emdur, Villaruel, Ainsworth, Teras - Game, Veronesi.

Priding himself in being an active coach, the Devils manager gave new instructions to his players after 1 minutes. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 5 minutes into the match, and T. Ainsworth wasn't about to let it go by. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The cannonball from 35 metres by D. Krilich of Rosemeadow was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net. L. Dandy was called on to replace Rosemeadow's R. Klompstra after 34 minutes following a nasty collision. Devils increased their lead after 37 minutes when E. Emdur broke through on the right, upping the score to 0 - 2, much to the home crowd's dismay. Rosemeadow's T. Paris had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 38 minutes having been played. K. Arthur was the replacement. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Devils, with 52 percent of the ball.

63 minutes into the match, C. Veronesi came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. 70 minutes into the game Rosemeadow broke through on the left wing and L. Dandy managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 2. Devils's J. Teras was dominating his wing and kept sending fine balls into the opposition's box - C. Veronesi managed to volley one of them into the net to make it 1 - 3 after 72 minutes. Devils's C. Villaruel left the field after 81 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was M. Doohan. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, L. Denezhkina would have put Devils up another goal 83 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. The visitors nearly scored again after 85 minutes, but a superb save by E. Shebunin kept L. Denezhkina's free kick out of the net. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams in terms of possession.

Rosemeadow's best player was D. Krilich. L. Dandy on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Devils player was D. Game. J. Teras turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 1 - 3.
