01-07-2012 09.00
Due to an all-day shower, 41954 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at
im. Gen. J. Dwernickiego.
Jinno Castelijns was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Pedro Berenguel and
Umberto Zara.
Dwernicki started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Damięcki - Danielczyk, Chorążyczewski, Zieja - Strupiński, Golli, Gaiński, Kessler, Kurzyp - Filipczyk, Horn.
Rybnik tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination.
The following players had been chosen: Rivadavia - Gida, Caio, Rozenek - Decensi, Wantulok, Wikhult, Domaradzki, Gévai - Mustapirtti, Kluza.
K. Filipczyk slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today.
Making his way up the middle 17 minutes into the match,
Z. Kessler almost managed to squeeze a goal past the visitors' keeper, but the alert
A. Rivadavia blocked it to keep the score level.
Rybnik took the lead after 17 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
P. Rozenek placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left.
Due to some great work on the right wing Dwernicki's
S. Horn was able to even the score after 24 minutes to make the score 1 - 1.
1 - 1 was the halftime score.
Dwernicki claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.
63 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Dwernicki to take the lead after a good cross from the right found
K. Filipczyk alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post.
As the 70 minute mark approached, the Rybnik coach decided it was time for a substitution.
J. Mustapirtti reluctantly made way for
S. Mayan on the pitch.
The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 78 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
K. Filipczyk, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing.
L. Gévai had a hard time on the waterlogged pitch - his trademark technique was nowhere in sight today.
After 81 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 2 - 2 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by
G. Decensi.
Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Dwernicki, with 60 percent of the ball.
Dwernicki's top performer was clearly
R. Golli.
A. Danielczyk was a disappointment, however.
M. Kluza performed admirably for Rybnik.
However,
A. Rivadavia made a disastrous appearance.
The match ends 2 - 2.
