Vianden clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. After 4 minutes, Vianden put themselves up 0 - 1, as P. Henriot finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. The referee showed Belair's K. Krivotulovas the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. G. Medernach's knee will be throbbing for days, but thankfully for Vianden, he bravely continued in the match. After 30 minutes, D. Dutheil got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Belair enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

After the ball was lifted in from the left, A. Larchenko was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 54 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. Belair's T. Alliende made an attempt at equalising 71 minutes into the match, coming in from the right, but the ball hit the post and the defence easily cleared the rebound. Vianden almost scored after a counterattack 83 minutes into the match, but A. Ilha took a shot from the left that landed harmlessly in the side of the net. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave G. Medernach from Vianden a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 85 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! A corner kick created great disorder in the penalty area with a goal nearly scored by A. Larchenko. At last, Vianden's A. Ilha was able to backheel the ball in. 0 - 2. J. Elsen received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 88 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 3. The Vianden fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. T. Alliende charged down the left and looked sure to score for Belair 88 minutes into the game, but his shot went just wide. Belair claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

M. Frommes performed admirably for Belair. On the other hand, T. Nussbaumer's play was disheartening. Vianden's top performer was clearly A. Larchenko. G. Medernach turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 0 - 3.
