29-07-2012 15.00
Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 17875 at
ST.LEON Arena today.
Laust Madsen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Jost Dusik and
Corey Marsh.
Everyone was excited about the upcoming
Ankara derby and the crowd was divided evenly.
ST.LEON started off with a 4-5-1 lineup.
The following players had been chosen: Kläusli - Gotsens, Ekşi, Pears, Briāns - Stirn, Gülören, Kozikowski, Dotti, Ungar - Kumar.
Yenimahalle tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Zirojević - Salcan, Grigorovas, Hillebrand - Jurcan, Khrenkov, Kaur, Więckowicz - Platas, Lantheaume, Narcisi.
ST.LEON mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
Yenimahalle were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
The referee showed ST.LEON's
P. Ungar the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
ST.LEON took the lead 25 minutes into the game by 1 - 0, as
P. Ungar elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar.
A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of ST.LEON to 2 - 0 as
F. Briāns finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle.
ST.LEON's
F. Kozikowski saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 37 minutes.
Halftime score was 2 - 0.
ST.LEON enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Yenimahalle breathed new life into the game with an opportunity to reduce the score after 50 minutes, but the home side's defenders cleared the ball on the line, after a long shot coming in from the left rebounded off the crossbar.
After 59 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
R. Pears might have resulted in another goal for ST.LEON. However,
A. Zirojević made a spectacular save.
ST.LEON's
W. Dotti got himself booked for a foul.
The player down was
D. Grigorovas. The Yenimahalle bench looked worried for a while, but in the end he managed to get up.
K. Więckowicz could've grabbed a goal for Yenimahalle 73 minutes in when he got a pass from the left putting him free of the home side's defence, but he was unable to take advantage of the situation.
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
A. Jurcan got himself booked. The manager of Yenimahalle was not happy.
ST.LEON solidified their lead at the 84 minute mark, as
S. Kumar dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 3 - 0.
When
P. Ungar made yet another studs-first tackle after 85 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the ST.LEON player for the second time, sending him off the pitch.
Possession in this half belonged to ST.LEON, who controlled the ball 54 percent of the time.
The most dominating ST.LEON player was without a doubt
S. Kumar.
However,
S. Kläusli made a disastrous appearance.
Yenimahalle's top performer was clearly
J. Platas.
D. Grigorovas was a disappointment, however.
The match ends 3 - 0.
